How PISAY Computes General Average
PISAY computes the General Average as a weighted average of all subject grades for the semester or academic year. Each subject’s percentage grade is multiplied by the subject’s weight, the weighted scores are summed, and the total is divided by total weight the same mathematical process as the standard GWA formula.
Using Our Calculator for PISAY
Enter each PISAY subject’s percentage grade as the grade value. Enter the subject weight or unit value as the units. The calculator will give you the weighted General Average your PISAY academic average for that period.
PISAY Minimum Passing and Retention Standards
The minimum passing grade at PISAY is 75 percent. A grade below 75 in any subject represents failure for that grading period.
Grades in the 70 to 74 range are conditional the student must take a removal examination to bring the grade up to passing. If the removal exam is passed, the conditional grade is replaced with a passing mark. If not, the conditional grade becomes permanent failure.
PISAY’s academic retention policy requires scholars to maintain satisfactory performance across all subjects. Failing two or more subjects in a semester typically triggers academic warning or probationary status. The exact retention thresholds should be confirmed with your PISAY campus’s academic office as specific policies may vary between campuses.Official PISAY academic policies and campus-specific retention guidelines are published by the Philippine Science High School System the authoritative source for all PSHS academic regulations
PISAY vs College GWA Important Distinction
PISAY grades are high school grades. When PISAY graduates enter college, their PISAY General Average does not carry over into college GWA computation. College GWA is computed entirely from university-level grades.Once PISAY graduates enter university, their academic performance is measured under the standard Philippine college grading system our guide on the grading system in college Philippines explains the 1.00 to 5.00 scale, GWA formula, and Latin honor thresholds they will encounter from their first college semester
A PISAY graduate’s college academic performance starts fresh at zero accumulated quality points when they enroll in their first college semester. Their strong PISAY academic record demonstrates capability and preparation, but it is not mathematically included in their college cumulative GWA.
Frequently Asked Questions PISAY GWA Calculator
How is the PISAY General Average computed?

What is the minimum passing grade at PISAY?
The minimum passing grade at PISAY is 75 percent. A grade of 70 to 74 is conditional and requires a removal examination. A grade below 70 is failing.
Does PISAY use the 1.00 to 5.00 grading scale like Philippine colleges?
No. PISAY uses a percentage scale from 70 to 100. Unlike most Philippine colleges that report final grades on the 1.00 to 5.00 numerical scale, PISAY reports grades directly as percentages.
Does my PISAY General Average affect my college GWA?
No. Your PISAY grades are high school records and are not included in college GWA computation. College GWA is computed entirely from university-level subject grades beginning from your first enrolled college semester.
