What is GWA to Percentage Conversion in the Philippines?

GWA to percentage conversion translates a student’s numerical General Weighted Average on the Philippine 1.00–5.00 scale into its equivalent percentage range. Philippine universities record final grades as numerical values  1.00, 1.25, 1.50, and so on  but scholarship applications, job applications, graduate school forms, and many government requirements ask for percentage equivalents.

The Philippine Commission on Higher Education (CHED) standardized the GWA-to-percentage correspondence table To compute your GWA using this scale, use our GWA Calculator Philippines. adopted by universities nationwide. A GWA of 1.00 corresponds to 96–100 percent. A GWA of 1.75 corresponds to 87–89 percent. A GWA of 3.00 corresponds to exactly 75 percent  the universal minimum passing grade across Philippine higher education.

There is no single arithmetic formula to convert GWA to percentage. The relationship between numerical grades and percentage equivalents is defined by an official correspondence table, not a linear equation. This calculator applies that table automatically for every grade on the 1.00–5.00 scale.

The GWA to percentage correspondence above is standardized by CHED and adopted by all Philippine universities using the numerical grading system. Some universities like PISAY use a direct percentage scale from 70 to 100 instead of the 1.00–5.00 numerical system  for PISAY grades, the percentage is the grade itself.

Important: not every GWA value has a defined percentage. Only the standard grade points (1.00, 1.25, 1.50, 1.75, 2.00, 2.25, 2.50, 2.75, 3.00, and 5.00) appear on official grade slips. Intermediate values like 1.33 or 2.10 are not standard Philippine grades and do not have official percentage equivalents.
